This is it, the final countdown. It’s been quite the adventure so far but alas it is coming to an end, at least academically…
After handing in release 0.3 I was curious to know what Dave had in store for us for the final project. I wanted to start looking for an issue to do since these things can take time. I decided to ask about it on the slack channel and got a response I was not expecting.

About an hour later he responded again declaring that he had released the instructions. I was surprised to see some of the wording in it reflected the input I had given Dave. It’s like my voice was actually heard and it felt nice. I just had to tell Dave how much I appreciated the work he’s doing.

The Issue
Now that I know the scope of the assignment I need to figure out what I want to do. I already had a pretty good idea. There was an issue I seen in the FreeTube repository I have been working with. I first saw the issue back in October when I was looking for things to do for Hacktoberfest.

I decided against doing it because of the above conversation in the issue. Apparently it’s not going to be a simple fix. I though about doing it for release 0.3 but I tried out a couple solutions and non of them immedianlty worked so again, I decided to pass on it.
It’s like this issue was meant for me. This will be the perfect issue to take on for the final release. It’s a complicated issue that will have a visible impact on how the application works. It will also push FreeTube one step closer to release 0.10, which I have already helped with!

I have already looked into possible solutions and found this plugin for videojs that apparently has found a way around the auto focus issue when changing to full screen.

As you can see from the two above images there is a slight problem in that the lone member with the ability to merge PR’s has been MIA the last week+. Thankfully one of the main contributors saw no reason a PR using that plugin would be rejected, but it will affect a lot so the review could be lengthy. After getting the blessing from Dave it’s time to start the countdown.
